With the explosion of technology as we view it today, an understanding of moving from idea to product is essential. In drafting the student is introduced to concepts as they relate to the four technologies. Within each aspect the student will be guided through instruction, demonstration, hands on activities and problem solving techniques. Computer Aided Design (CAD) will be introduced. CAD is the organized use of a computer, CRT monitor, input device, and CAD software to perform drafting and design tasks. These tasks can range from the simple and repetitive to the complex. Since all drafting skills can be reduced to the use of lines, arcs, points, symbols, and text, most CAD systems deal with these primitives and the many ways of grouping, reusing, and manipulating these items. The primitives are used to create more complex drawings through the use of any number of input devices to form the drawing on the screen. Through the use of the software, the drawing can be modified, stored, or dumped to a plotter to produce a hard copy.

  • House LayoutThe wood construction system course provides students with a working understanding of the key elements associated with designing, planning, and constructing a structure on-site. Students learn major concepts through hands-on activities, using contemporary construction tools and materials. Activities involve a variety of types of construction, such as commercial and residential buildings, bridges, and other structures including cabinets and furniture. Emphasis is placed on student understanding of major concepts associated with each main content element as well as interrelationship of management and production elements. The content and activities are inclusive of the Connecticut Career Clusters of "Construction: Technologies and Design" and "Technologies: Manufacturing, Communications, and Repair".

Do you want to develop computer games without spending countless hours learning how to become a programmer? Then you've come to the right place. Students using Game Maker and other software applications will make exciting computer games, with limited or no need to write code. Students will make games with Game Maker Pro and other affiliated software packages which makes game development a lot of fun.

Using easy to learn drag-and-drop actions, students can create professional looking games within very little time. Students will learn to make games with backgrounds, animated graphics, music and sound effects, and even some 3D games! Once students become more experienced, there is a built-in programming language, which gives them the full flexibility of creating games with Game Maker Pro and other game making software. Most of the software used is free of charge and readily available on the web.

Students can do anything that they want with the games they produce, they can even sell them!
